Writing Program

We have a New In House Writing Program!

I would like to formally introduce a Writing Program developed over the past several years. The program was developed for students with Executive Functioning Deficits and Auditory Processing Disorders. Over the past several years, I have found this program has been well accepted by students with various learning difficulties, and more importantly, it is used by students in their academic settings. I have also had the opportunity to track several students through the PSSAs and have been very pleased with the results.

The Lear Educational Center has been using the program with students from elementary school through formidable college curriculums, with good results. The program offers tools to facilitate writing in a linear format and to help in organizing thoughts. The student is guided with a rubric that is designed to meet national writing standards. This format and rubric guide is designed for use with all genres. The best news it is a simple program and easy to master.

Some students find the logic in the program easy to learn and improve their writing dramatically in reasonably short periods of time. Other students, with more involved disabilities, need to be guided through the process over a longer period of time until the method is mastered. As with all programs, we encourage support from the home to help see the program through to mastery. Don’t forget, writing is now included in all PSSA, PSAT and SAT examinations.

It’s not too early to be thinking about your students or children who may benefit from a writing program like this one.
