Standard Academic Tutoring
Academic Tutoring is available for most subjects.
The goal of general academic tutoring is to help the student become independent by learning to monitor their own study habits. Often students have not be properly taught to know how to learn, what strategies to use and just where to begin after they have fallen behind their class.
Many times we have students come in requiring assistance in one subject to find out that it is not the content that is giving the student difficulty as much as it may be their reading and comprehension ability. Making sure we are teaching the correct skills will make certain we are using the best programs to help the student meet with success.
During your consultation appointment all of the possible areas that may be causing the student's difficulty are discussed. If necessary, testing may be recommended but is not always necessary in all cases. We ask that you bring any previous testing with you to your meeting to avoid incurring costs in testing that may not be necessary.
Individual programs will be designed using all the information gathered at the time of the intake, or testing. With the agreement of the parent and Ms. Lear decisions will be made as to what method of remediation is best to begin general academic tutoring and insure success.
